Okavango

                                                EL RÍO OKAVANGO

   El río Okavango es un largo río africano, esta en Angola, en una zona bastante lluviosa. Mide unos  1.700 km, y desemboca en una zona con un clima muy árido. Se trata de un río alóctono, como es el caso del río Nilo, en Egipto, o el río Níger en Malí. Su cuenca drena una superficie de 721.277 km².

El rio se caracteriza por tener una gran cantidad de fauna, como los mamiferos, que son apodados como los cinco grandes y los siete magníficos: el león, el leopardo, el elefante, el rinoceronte y el búfalo, se unen el guepardo y el licaón, para dar lugar a los siete magníficos que pocos pueden ver en estado salvaje.

 También se pueden observan las 5  aves más grandes de áfrica, como son:

 -La avutarda kori:  puede llegar a tener un metro y medio de altura y un peso de 19 kilos.

  - El jabirú africano,  es una cigüeña que puede medir 145 cm de longitud y hasta 270 cm con las
 alas abiertas.

 -El búho pescador común.

 -  El cálao terrícola.

 - El águila marcial.

  La mejor época para visitar el delta depende de lo que se quiera observar. Si lo que se busca son animales grandes, el mejor periodo es entre mayo y octubre, cuando las aguas bajan y aquellos se concentran alrededor del agua. Si lo que se quiere ver son aves y una vegetación exuberante, la mejor época es entre noviembre y abril, la época de las lluvias.

   The Okavango River is a long river Africa , Angola was in a very rainy area . It measures about 1,700 km, and flows into an area with a very arid climate. This is an allochthonous rivers, such as the Nile River in Egypt, or the Niger River in Mali. Its watershed drains an area of 721,277 km ² .The river is characterized by a wealth of wildlife, including mammals , which are dubbed as the Big Five and the Magnificent Seven: the lion , leopard , elephant , rhino and buffalo , cheetah and wild dog bind to give the magnificent Seven that few can see in the wild.

 You can also observe the 5 biggest birds of Africa , such as:

 The kori bustard - : can have five feet tall and weighs 19 kilos .

  - The African Jabiru , is a stork which can measure 145 cm in length and up to 270 cm with

 open wings .

 - The Owl Common Kingfisher .

 - The Earthman hornbill .

 - The martial eagle.

  The best time to visit the delta depends on what you want to watch. If you are looking for large animals, the best period is between May and October, when the water recedes and those are concentrated around water. If you want to see are birds and lush vegetation , the best time is between November and April, the rainy season.
